Shelves with doors
A shelf with a door is a safe shelf! Syncro System’s closable shelves are designed to keep all your tools and materials in perfect order and safe from prying eyes.
Shelving: one of the basic elements of Syncro van storage
Along with drawers, shelves form the basis of the Syncro System van storage catalogue. Thanks to their clever design, Syncro storage modules can be assembled in an almost infinite number of ways to create columns of different height, width and depth and to satisfy all possible customer needs. Standard Syncro shelves consist of two rectangular side plates, a tray with raised edges at the front and back and, of course, a bottom, covered with a non-slip mat. This simple but effective design is more than adequate for most items of cargo. Aluminium dividers can also be fitted to organise shelf space into anything from 2 to 13 separate compartments.
Syncro also makes special types of shelf to serve specific purposes: examples include dedicated shelves for liquid canisters, shelves for tool and component cases, and shelves for plastic containers.
Shelf doors for added protection
Closing a shelf means better protection for its contents, in two ways:
- protection against prying eyes and therefore against theft;
- less risk of items falling out under fierce braking, on tight bends or in collisions.
Improved security is the obvious result – for valuable contents that remain hidden from potential thieves; for the vehicle’s bodywork, which is less prone to damage by heavy falling objects, and for drivers, passengers and other road users, who no longer risk being injured by cargo flying in all directions in an accident.
Types of closable shelf: shelves with hinged, upward opening doors
Shelves in the heights of 241, 362 and 402 mm can be fitted with a hinged, upward opening door. This type of door incorporates a finger-channel for easy operation. A gas spring damps door movement and holds it in the open and closed positions. This type of door requires a front panel to completely close the shelf.
Types of shelf: edgeless shelves with front panels and hinged, downward opening doors
RS series shelves have no raised edges at the front or back. They are designed for the easy loading and unloading of boxes, cases and other large items of cargo. They have no mats and no provision for fitting shelf dividers.
If desired, they can be fitted with a fixed front panel or, for easier access to contents, a hinged, downward opening door.
Alternatively, the entire shelf can also be closed by an upward-opening, parallelogram action door. This cleverly designed door remains flush with the front of the cabinets when fully open and does not protrude into the standing space inside the van.
Types of shelf: edgeless shelves with full height doors
Edgeless shelves have no raised edges at the front or back. They can be fitted with Syncro’s patented new full height, lift-and-rotate doors. These doors open outwards and downwards until they lie parallel to the bottom of the shelf. Thanks to the absence of raised edges, objects can be slid in and out of the shelf effortlessly.
This type of door does not require a fixed front panel to completely close the shelf.
Door locking is automatic too. Simply push the door upwards and inwards and it automatically drops into slots that hold it shut.
These doors come in two heights, 130 and 295 mm, and various lengths from 50 to 150 cm. The 130 mm size door can also be combined with a parallelogram action top door.
Like the shelves they go with, Syncro doors are made from high strength steel and finished in a tough epoxy polyester powder coating for maximum strength, impact resistance and durability. Their hinge mechanisms are made from stainless steel and are completely maintenance-free.
